Identify the cover and the position of each party

A motor claim may arise under the vehicle owner’s loss-and-damage cover or against another driver’s third-party liability insurer. These are different bases of claim. The Central Bank of the UAE’s unified policy framework, the actual policy and the accident evidence should be considered together.

Disagreements may concern the repair method, an agency-repair condition, deductions, valuation, total loss or a proposed settlement. Injury claims following an accident can involve additional medical and liability issues beyond the vehicle damage itself.

How the firm can assist

The firm can review the policy and written claim decision, identify the issues requiring evidence and assist with a structured complaint or settlement response. Technical vehicle valuation and medical questions may require independent specialist input.

  • Third-party and own-damage claims, including the effect of the policy wording.
  • Repair and total-loss disputes, valuation evidence and settlement documentation.
  • Insurer complaint correspondence and the available escalation procedure.
Prepare for a useful conversation
  • Insurance policy, vehicle registration and relevant accident or police report.
  • Photographs, repair estimates, valuation reports and invoices already available.
  • Claim reference, the insurer’s decision and any settlement offer.

An initial outline is enough. Detailed records can follow through a process agreed with the firm.

Questions clients often ask

Does third-party insurance cover damage to my own vehicle?

Third-party liability cover and own-damage cover serve different purposes. The available claim depends on the cover held and the circumstances of the accident, including whether another party is liable.

Can the amount offered for a total loss be disputed?

The proposed basis of valuation can be reviewed against the applicable policy and evidence. A technical assessment may be needed. A legal review can also address the effect of accepting payment or signing a discharge.

A considered approach
